Although it was a little hard falling asleep considering what had happened in the last 24h, you had just trekked through a desert by yourself so it wasn't as if fatigue hadn't been hitting you. Eventually, you found yourself being woken by the alarm you set the day before, happy to still be breathing despite your fears of being stabbed in your sleep.
Sadly, when you walked back into the Annex, you realized you weren't going to be sleeping as peacefully this coming night. The Bureau had decided to showcase that they're not only still around, but more than willing to use whatever they have at their disposal to foil our plans. It seems they have no qualms with psychological warfare, or murder for that matter, for a corpse was strung up and is hanging from a pillar. Stripped entirely naked, gagged, and burned of any identifying marks, the sight was terrible to behold. Gruesome acid burns covered their face, making them practically unrecognizable, their fingers dipped into the same acid to etch away their fingerprints. Even their teeth had been pulled to remove the chance of finding any dental records.
The sight sickened you to your stomach, as was probably their intentions. You hope that they did all this after having killed the poor cultist, but you have no way of actually knowing this. Honestly, you don't even have a way of knowing whether they are a cultist or not, but you doubt that they would do something like this to their own. Still, it isn't the only unusual thing in the room. The obelisk seems to have started humming slightly, as a single wax candle has started orbiting the construct in lazy circles, the flame a slightly more greenish hue than you normally attribute to flames.
You inspect the base of the obelisk and notice 8 other candles, all unlit. It doesn't escape you that, with the Leader and Inquisitor gone, there were nine people remaining, and nine candles in total. One person dead, one candle floats. Shaking off the dread, you help the others lower the corpse from the pillar and into the Corpse Disposal Pit. The pit is deep, for it took a long time to hear a thud, and soon thereafter soft echoes of crunching and screeching wafted from the open hole.
The attack on the Leader was clean, almost honorable as far as assassinations go, and left you with social mobility in the Cult and a probably-dead inquisitor. But this time, it's become personal. Someone has to answer for the death and mutilation of this poor soul.
@MaggotCheese died last night. It is unknown what they were. There was no death note.
Although this game is a closed set-up, we still have available the Google Doc from the previously hosted game.
Day 1 will last the full 36 hours unless a 66% majority vote has been reached. When a 66% majority vote is reached, the Day will end early. Only a 51% majority is needed for someone to be lynched at the end of the Day.
